These were the Custard apples I plucked before the squirrels could get at them. They have to be kept in a closed box for a day or two befor they ripen. The custard apple is also called the Sugar apple . Although they are full of seeds, they have a very nice frgrance which makes them a popular fruit. The seeds , when powdered, make a good aphid repellant for plants. The tray they are kept is a biodegradable one made of Areca palm leaf.

The pink and white fruit of the Indian blackberry, Karaonda will be ready for harvesting in a few days. Squirrels don't like these fruit as they are sour, with a tinge of bitterness. We can make pickles and preserves from this fruit.

Talking of bitter taste, this is the Bitter gourd relished by Indians. Mine are pale green, almost white, and not so bitter. The bitter gourd is good for diabetics.

The pineapple is very small , but I hope it tastes good!
These are some of the fruit that are growing in my garden.
